drive-in theaters... the original sensory-friendly movies?
My town had a drive-in movie theater until 2010, when it sadly burned down. Before that, though, I had some fun times there. (My first drive-in experience was Monsters Inc.) And now that I think about it, drive-in movies were the original sensory-friendly film screenings.
You control the volume with your car radio. You control the temperature in the car. You can bring pillows and blankets and wear your pjs. You can bring your own outdoor chairs. You can stand up or walk around without blocking the screen.
I miss that drive-in theater. Many people do. Maybe someday someone will rebuild it? A manatee can dream.
